What type of guild is The Shadow Walkers?
We value the qualities of honor, companionship, fair play, respect, maturity, and consideration . All members are expected to uphold the name of the Shadow Walkers at all times in their behavior both within guildhalls (on site) and with others. Honor in dueling, honor in dividing the spoils of battle, honor in the hunt. These qualities are expected and sought in our members.

The Shadow Walkers have adopted a drama-free attitude. We actively promote a fun, friendly atmosphere.

In addition to our drama-free policy, we firmly believe that real life takes precedence over game, and embrace a 'no forced respec' policy for our members.

Maturity and a sense of humor is integral to being a Shadow. We pride ourselves on our exceptional ability to get along as well as our respectability amongst other players on the Argent Dawn server and therefore are intolerant of negative talk about our guild or guild members, disrespect of other players/guilds, ninja behavior, lack of maturity as well as inability to get along respectfully with other players. Any of the above offenses could result in immediate removal from the guild.

Are you RP, Raid, or PVP?
All and none!

The Shadow Walkers are concerned with the enjoyment of the game whether it be RP, PVP, or Raiding over formality, and we intend to stay true to that philosophy. Members do not join the Shadows to be the most uber, or the strongest, or the best equipped. We belong to the Shadows because we believe in having fun and pursuing our goals - whatever they may be - through role-play, pvp, raiding, and camaraderie. We stand true to these principles, to each other, and to the entire World of Warcraft community. Even if it means gaining power more slowly, we know that by upholding these principles and our community, the Shadows will be stronger as a guild and as individuals in all ways that matter. We enjoy role-playing and above all recognize that fun is the primary reason to play the game.

Some are 100% RP, some are 100% raiders, and some are 100% PVP.

Most are all of these, and some are just one. The point is that each person's choice of play style is respected and we have fun in the process.

What is expected of members?
As a member, we suggest strongly that you observe the following guidelines. Frequently ignoring these could result in corrective action.

- All members should keep guild chat on. Guild chat is the only effective in-game medium for communicating to the entire guild.

- Bad language and innuendo is frowned upon when minors are present in guild chat and Ventrilo. When there are no minors, bad language should be kept to a minimum.

- Members are expected to be courteous at all times, both to players in the guild and out, regardless of the behavior of others (roleplay notwithstanding).

- If you have any questions they can be directed to any officer. Click here to see a list of officers.

Can I use Leet (1337) speak in the guild?
Regular use of Leet, Chat, or Dude speak is highly frowned upon in guild chat or any other channel while you are a Shadow Walker, expect that if you chose to use this you will be chastised. Common internet abbreviations or slang is fine if kept to a minimum. Repeated usage after warning maybe dealt with punishment up to and including de-guilding. We understand that at times when in an instance or a hot situation these abbreviations may be required to be successful and those can be excused so long as they are not excessive.

For more information on Leet, Chat, or Dude speak and what it is these links will help:

Naming Policy

a) Our Character naming policy is is as follows:
        - No racist/sexual/offensive names
        - No phrases. IE: Theman, Iluvcandy, Goodhealer
        - No References to the real world in such a way that breaks the suspended reality of the game
        - No 'internet handles'. IE: Freckles123, Milidude, Meltatron
        - No non-alpha characters such as numbers or alt+ characters

Names should be something you would expect to see in a fantasy novel or even with real names. If your chosen name contravenes this policy and your wish is to join our guild, please petition for a name change.

b) Validity or acceptance of names is up to the sole discretion of the guild officers. If you have a name that you feel is valid and was rejected you may petition the officers for a review of the name.

A discussion with the member and no less than five officers or captains will be held, and a vote will occur where the name will be judged on its merits.

c) If your name has been determined to be against Blizzard's ToU or Guild Policy you will have 30 days from the date of the final decision to petition / pay for a name change. Check the WoW website for this information. If your name has not been changed by the 31st day your guild tag will be removed.

Will the guild help me get my epics, reach level 70+, go on every quest with me?
Your fellow guild members have no obligation to jump in and help you obtain Hero, Specific level, Class, or Epic Armor etc. That being said, if you wish to arrange appropriate events asking for help to reach a specific goal, please do so, and it would certainly be encouraged for those available to assist. But, do not simply pop into guild chat and expect everybody to drop everything and assist.

Plan, request assistance politely, and if nobody is available, work on Plan B instead of getting upset. Keep in mind that as we are not a full time raiding guild, a week or two advanced notice is a good idea to allow everybody time to see your invitation.

Does the guild raid, or will they help me learn to raid?
Yes!

The Shadow Walkers While providing a place to PVP, or RP also have a healthy raiding schedule and are often allied with several different guilds.

If you have never raided before we have a weekly raid training to help you learn the ins and outs of raid training.

What happens if I have a complaint or a suggestion?
a) Members should feel free to contact their officers at any time, if there is a problem or concern. Your officers cannot help you if they are not aware a problem exists.

b) If you have a serious complaint about another member, and you have been unable to resolve it by speaking to the person involved, please speak to an officer. We will not necessarily intervene, but we would like to note any serious complaints so we can keep an eye on the situation. If intervention is required, we will do so.

c) De-guilding or kicking up a fuss because of some problem, when you did NOT make an officer aware of the problem so that it could be addressed, will be severely frowned upon. Once again, your officers cannot help you if they are not aware a problem exists.

What if I get mad and leave then want to come back?
The Shadows are not a revolving door we understand that knee jerk reactions happen but the guild is not a revolving door.

If you remove yourself from the guild for any reason, do not expect to be immediately readmitted if you change your mind. If you de-guild in a huff without discussing it with an officer first and without taking time to consider, expect a minimum 'cooling-off' period of 1-2 weeks before you will be readmitted. Please act accordingly and do not act in haste.

If you do decide to de-guild yourself, it would be appreciated if you could let an officer know your reasons, so we can be aware of any issues that may be involved. If you de-guild yourself and then decide to reapply to the guild, you will be expected to post your request in the Applicants area and follow the normal waiting period while it is discussed. Applicants will be required to pass an FAQ test, and depending on circumstances may have to go through initiation again.

What would get me kicked out of the guild?
The Shadow Walkers guild is about having fun within the game of World of Warcraft. At all times, remember that Real Life comes first before WoW, and having fun - for everybody - in WoW comes first before anything else in the game, including loot, quests, experience, even role-play. This charter attempts to make that clear. Failure to comply with the guild charter - not just the letter of the charter but also the spirit of it - is grounds for de-guilding.

Specific examples of grounds for de-guilding would include:

i) Offensive language and behavior towards others, either in game chat or in public forums. This includes both role-played and out-of-character behavior that is offensive to guild members. (i.e. do not get the GM to come down on you for you use of language. That what Guild chat and closed channels are for.)

ii) Acting in a way that tarnishes the Guild's reputation for honor and fairness.

iii) Acting in a way that contravenes Blizzard's play-nice policies (abusive language, using deliberate exploits, harassment of others, etc.) Argument over loot, disagreement with the looting guidelines.

iv) Consistent refusal to behave according to the Guild's standards of honor, fairness, and role-play.

v) Disrespecting your fellow guild member in a way to cause harm to his/her reputation or standing within guild, game, or slanderous comments about a members personal life.

What is the rule of one week?
Emotions run high and fast in Azeroth at times. While recognizing emotional responses as valid, we endeavor to act in a well thought out manner at all times. The rule of one week is just that: a buffer of one week's time before implementing changes, or reacting to situations. This rule is already in affect for applicants. We give all members and officers one week to let their feeling be known before an application is declined or accepted. This idea is to be carried out as much as possible within all aspects of the guild.

If an officer proposes a new guideline, there will be a week's wait before it is implemented (or killed). This rule directly affects the general membership as well. If you bring an issue to an officer, you must expect at least one week for that officer to process and deal with whatever issue is at hand.

In most cases a new policy will be placed for a vote before the membership, it will be approved if there is a 70% or more "Yes" votes. If approved the Policy will be enacted and if necessary be come part of the guild FAQ. If the policy lacks 70% it is within the submitters power to change or tweak the policy and then resubmit it for another vote.

Good leading requires good thinking, and that takes time. It is hoped that all members will also apply this rule to themselves wherever possible. When considering changes to their character, their allegiances, or any other decision that changes their path, then one week's thinking time would be very well spent.

Is the guild a democracy?
Bear in mind that this is not a democracy, while we try to be fair in all aspects in the end the guild masters word is law. If you feel you were not heard or listened to you can address the situation with the guild master. Please note however because you gave what you felt was a good idea or good advice. The GM is not required to take it. Don’t get your feelings hurt by this ask for an explanation as to why your idea or advice was not considered.

How do I become a Veteran?
The qualifications Veteran are simple. You must;

A.) Have 6 months good standing in the guild.

B.) You must have displayed that you know what it means to be a Shadow Walker through your everyday game play.
If you feel that you meet this criteria you can petition an officer via PM on the guild site for review. The officers will meet to decide on the promotion. You will be notified within 7 days of the decision of the officers.

How do I become a guild officer?
The first thing I would suggest is read what is expected of the different officers here.

Then discuss with the officers or the guild master what is open and available.

Officers are not chosen based on tenure, but instead an individual is judged based on their willingness to make a diference and their demonstrated ability to want to do the job.

Where do I apply?
First, make sure your account name matches your toon name in game.
Second, contact an officer in game to activate your account
Third, please complete the application form

If you do not have a SPONSOR at this time it's ok. One of our Shadows I am sure will step forward to take the task. ((If you have belonged to the Shadow Walkers in a former life (character), it would be appreciated if you note this on your application. Although this is not required, if you were a former member who left on bad terms and then reapply in a new form, it may raise questions if you did not make it known when you reapply.))

_________________________________________________

What happens after I apply?
Please check your application daily until you receive a reply. If that reply is an invitation then please contact an officer or the guild master in game via an in game mail or forums message, and you will receive an invite as soon as possible.

The SPONSOR is responsible for answering any questions the applicant may have, or redirecting him to another member or officer who can answer the questions.

The SPONSOR is also responsible for getting to know the applicant, helping the applicant meet other members and find some hunting groups within the Shadows if possible.

The APPLICANT will be assigned 3 tasks to complete.
The SPONSOR will confirm the exact tasks assigned, the general purpose of these tasks will be to encourage the APPLICANT to meet and speak to a few members, normally a minimum of three. The tasks are not designed to be hard but more on the line of getting to know the other guild members.

The SPONSOR can assist the APPLICANT if necessary in the arrangement and completion of the quest. The APPLICANT is responsible for contacting the members and arranging meetings with them as convenient for both parties.

The APPLICANT should report on his/her application when s/he has completed the tasks, should state with whom, and describe the result (a summary is sufficient, although a story can be posted if the applicant wishes).

Once the tasks are complete to the satisfaction of a recruitment officer, the APPLICANT will be given a test based on this FAQ by a recruiting officer. Once the test is completed successfully and one month has passed from the date of the application, A GUILD OFFICER will call a vote. The vote will be left open for 1 week (7 days).

This is done to ensure that all guild members who can vote due to hectic schedules have that opportunity. Once the week is over the applicant will be informed of the result. The voting options will be:

A. recruit

B. need more time to evaluate

C. do not recruit

An applicant will be approved if they have 70% or more "recruit" votes and no "do not recruit votes". If approved the recruit tag will be changed to a member tag. If the applicant does not have sufficient support for 70% "recruit" votes, the applicant will be informed that the result is inconclusive.

As this will probably be because not enough members are familiar with the applicant, the applicant will be given another week (or longer, if the applicant wishes) to get to know more Guild members.

The vote will be called again after 1 week, or when the applicant and sponsor report they are ready.

If there are any 'do not recruit votes' the reason for these will be discussed amongst the members if possible without breaching the confidence of the applicant. Once the discussion is complete a second vote will be held. If the second vote result is still inconclusive, a guild officer will make a judgment call.

If you have any questions, our officers and members will be happy to assist you. Whether or not you apply to the Shadow Walkers, we are always happy to meet and assist those who walk the paths in Azeroth, so please do introduce yourself.

All guild members family who meet the guild's age requirement, and significant others (Wives, husbands, or life partners) (RL), at the discretion of the Guild Leader/Recruitment Officers, may be allowed to bypass the initiation process. GUILD BANK

Making a Request
If you would like an item that you cannot withdraw yourself, please post your request in the 'Info' tab of that bank tab. Please note that text space is limited so be sure to use the following format: {date}{name}:{item name}x{qty}
Requests will be filled on a first come first serve basis. If you have not received the item you requested in 3 days please contact a quartermaster, officer, or the guild leader.
Everyone is expected to check the info tab before making any withdrawals to be sure the item hasn't already been spoken for.

Repairs
Currently the only time repairs are allowed to be taken from the guild bank are for Raid Repairs ONLY. As long as the guild float is maintained this will not change. If donations to the guild bank increase the float significantly then opening repairs for other occasions will be considered.

Guild General Storage
Security: Member Rank. This tab is for general storage for items that can be used on a day to day basis such as potions, scrolls, armour kits and also for items that could be considered upgrades in gear for people (green quality or higher). Items in this tab should be items that the guild, and any one placing items into this tab, do not mind people taking as and when needed.

Reputation and Materials Storage
Security: Member Rank. This tab is for the storing of items that can be used to turn in for reputation (such as the Aldor and Scryer hand-in items in Shattrath City) and also items that can be used in crafting. If there is an overflow of one particular item then the excess can either be sold on the auction house by a Quartermaster for guild funds or can be stored with a Quartermaster until the time that the bank amount has lessened.

Craft Storage
Security: Member Rank. Patterns, recipes and craft/class training books should be stored in this tab. Only one of each item should be kept, with excess patterns being kept with the Quartermasters so that they do not take up too much space within the guild bank.

Safe Storage
Security: Quartermasters and Officers. A place in the guild bank for readily accessible items to be stored but with added security so that items are safer from accepted guild hacks. Items in here would include any blue items, materials or other valuable high-cost bind on equips. These items should be freely accessible to any one to request in the guild as long as the item is a decent upgrade for them.

Raid Storage Security: Officers/Raid Leaders. For use for raid storage only. This includes any useful potions, scrolls and food items that people generally use on raids in order to up their stats. Items in this storage tab should be high turnaround items that are used for raids; anything in here more than two weeks should be removed to a lesser security tab so that guild members may make use of them (if they are still there after two weeks then people on raids are not using them thus they are not too important and should be used rather than gathering dust). Once items have been removed and used in a raid they should be replaced before the next raid starts so that there is always a fresh supply of useful raiding items at hand for those that lead such runs.

Low Level Items
Due to limited space within the guild bank, the availability/low cost of decent low level armour and weapon upgrades, the quantity of low level items being stored within the guild bank is restricted. A secondary storage guild could be used for overflow storage from main-guild bank tabs if needed.

Time Limits
Due to the limits with storage any weapon or armour left within the guild bank for too long will be either disenchanted for materials for the guild enchanters or sold on the auction house for guild funding. If an item is in the bank for too long then it is obviously not as useful as first thought and something should be done with it to save on the space it takes up rather than letting it gather dust. The duration a single-stacked item is kept in lower security tabs should be based on the availability of each individual item. If the item is readily available on the auction house for less than ten gold, or it is a common drop, then it should only be kept within the bank for a week or two before being removed and either broken down into materials or sold for guild profit.
